Main Attractions
Wenfeng Tower
The main peak of Dongmenyu Island is like a huge bonsai. The jagged rocks rise sharply over Dongshan Harbor, creating a picturesque scene with the flat sea below and the towering peak above. Walking along a stone path hidden by trees, you'll reach the main peak of the island at an altitude of 91 meters, where Wenfeng Tower stands. The tower, built with granite, is an octagonal solid structure with seven floors. On the second floor, each side features relief sculptures. The top is crowned by two gourd-shaped stones. It remains intact and continues to stand as a key maritime landmark, known as "Dongyu Wenfeng".
Guanhai Cliff
Located southeast of Wenfeng Tower, Guanhai Cliff is a massive rock stretching several tens of meters. Standing on this giant stone, one can gaze out over the vast sea, where the sky and sea blend, sailboats dot the horizon, and the surrounding green forests complement the scene. At sunrise, the colorful glow of dawn lights up the sky. The cliff has an almost magical power, blending both greatness and humility, uniting the small with the grand, the modest with the proud.
To the left is Dongshan Harbor, with three small islands standing between the fast-moving currents. The ebb and flow of the tides remind visitors of the unstoppable march of history. The immovable rocks in the face of the strong current hint at the philosophy of standing firm despite the tides of change.
Looking right, one sees the ancient Tongshan, perched on the cliff. The rocks seem to penetrate the sky, and the waves crash against the shore, stirring up foam. Tongshan city stands amidst the chaos, a magnificent sight.
Wenchang Pavilion
From the stone steps near Wenfeng Tower, walking east through the forest, you will find yourself surrounded by blooming mountain flowers and lush greenery. Mountain springs like Ban Yue Spring, Pinghu Spring, and Biyun Spring gently flow, creating a serene atmosphere. At the end of the path, by the sea, stands Wenchang Pavilion. This two-story building provides a perfect spot to rest, take photos, enjoy the sea view, and listen to the waves. Next to the pavilion, where the waves crash against the rocks, is the Fisherman’s Stone, a 10-meter-high rock resembling an old fisherman with a conical hat, fishing by the sea.
Eagle Beak Rock
Heading west from Wenchang Pavilion, you will come to Eagle Beak Rock. This large rock resembles an eagle, with its beak shaped like an iron hook, curved and sharp. It faces the sea, seemingly ready to take flight.
Yunshan Stone Chamber
Beneath the wings of the giant eagle, the inscription "Shizhai" is carved. Below this inscription is the Yunshan Stone Chamber, a cave formed by the overlapping of Eagle Beak Rock and nearby large stones. The cave is about 10 meters deep and 4 meters wide, capable of holding more than 20 people. Inside, the dark cave contrasts with the bright ocean view outside.
Dongming Temple
Located in the northern section of Dongmenyu Island, this temple was originally built during the Song Dynasty (960-1127). It is the lowest temple in China, situated just 60 cm above sea level, almost level with the sea. The main hall houses 10,000 glazed Buddha statues. The temple is another beautiful addition to the "sea-bound mountain" landscape.
